Matilde Pombo, only 15 years old, created the project “Grão a Grão Solidário” from the garage of her home, a Non-Profit Organization to be able to support families in Póvoa de Varzim, Matosinhos, Maia, Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Gondomar, with food and other essential products.
Initially, the project mainly supported large families in which the pandemic had triggered unemployment, but currently, families with children and senior households are also supported.
In 2021, around 100 families with no or very low incomes were supported through the help of 14 effective volunteers, 12 occasional volunteers and local companies. Today, it’s also one of our commitments to help this Project.
Every month we donate 25 food baskets to large families!
A commitment made by young people, with the support of volunteers and companies that, although small, with few resources and means, makes a difference in the lives of many families.
